The first of the “Simply Ridiculous” behaviors identified in my little book of the same name is, “Listening to the negative voice of the other!”
You know that voice. It’s constantly in your ear whispering negative talk and instigating an internal conversation of never-ending chatter and negative influence.
The voice of the other has come to us in the form of our parents, our teachers, friends, ministers, the media, our culture at large and possible many others. Each one of us has had our own set of “Others” in our lives, and one or more of these influencers may have spewn negative talk in your ear for as long as you can remember – or at a time in your life when it was particularly impactful.
“The Other” has said things like…
- “You can’t do that!”
- “You can’t afford that!”
- “Remember what happened the last time!?!”
- “You’re not good enough!”
- “Quit Dreaming! That’ll never work!”
- “Quit Dreaming!”
Enough of “The Other” in your ear and it becomes negative self-talk. It will have you locked into a cycle of silly and ridiculous behaviors that will have you living small.
Listening to the negative voice of “The Other” is Simply Ridiculous!
LIGMO suggests that instead, you let it go and…
“Listen to the voice of your own heart.”
As we move further into the discussion about LETTING GO of our Simply Ridiculous behaviors we’ll discuss the power and the intelligence of the human heart and I’ll share with you the tools that helped me deprogram myself and create a new baseline for living, loving and communicating.
Together, we will practice getting out of the head – where all that negative chatter exists – and relying on the power of the heart.
Please join me in the discussion as we “Let It Go and Move On!
Live. Love. Learn. Laugh. LIGMO!
